Uniting for the Prophet ﷺ – The Mahabbah Tour 2015
What is Uniting for the Prophet ﷺ – The Mahabbah Tour 2015?
In 2005 – Uniting for the Prophet brought together some of the most important scholars, spiritual leaders and artists from around the world in a celebration of the best of creation and the most beloved of God. Attended by over 2000 people, it was a gathering at which Muslims and our friends from other faiths joined hands to affirm the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad and why his life and character ought to inspire and transform us. A year later, we came together yet again – this time nearly 2500 strong – to affirm our commitment to making the celebration of the birth of the Prophet an essential part of the cultural map of Islam in the West.
Featuring the presence of Habib Umar bin Hafiz, Habib Ali al-Jifri, Dr Martin Lings (Shaykh Abu Bakr Siraj al-Din), Shaykh Charles Hasan le Gai Eaton, Shaykh Babikir Ahmed Babikir, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Yusuf Islam, Danial Abdal Hay Moore and others, the 2005 and 2006 Uniting for the Prophet events were historic and left a lasting mark on the spiritual landscape of Islam in Britain.
10 years later, the organisers of the Uniting for the Prophet along with partners in Bradford, Leicester, Luton, Cardiff and London are set to revive the tradition of the Wembley programmes.
Uniting for the Prophet: The Mahabbah Tour 2015 is about bringing Muslim communities and our friends together in not only celebrating the Prophet Muhammad, but affirming that his message, life and character are needed now more than ever.
We are honoured to have Habib Ali al-Jifri with us to mark 10 years since the Wembley events and to revive the purpose and vision of Uniting for the Prophet.
Healing Hearts in a Divided World
O Allah! Reconcile (with love and understanding) between our hearts. And resolve our (broken) affairs. And guide us towards peace and paths of guidance. And take us out of darkness (or falsehood, ignorance, evil) to the brightness (of truth and guidance). – Hadith
Pre-Islamic Arabia, also known as the “age of ignorance,” (or “Jahiliyyah”) to Muslims, is described as a dark period consisting of harsh tribal allegiances and an anarchic society. Immoral acts were received with approval and considered the norm in society.
Consequently, the Nations of Arabia were living the lives of moral depravity, ignorance and deviation. However, the advent of the Messenger ﷺ equipped with Divine Revelation (Qur’an), was a means of shining the light of guidance through the darkness, enabling people to discover the true purpose of life.
His life-long mission was to educate society to rise above such individualistic concerns and become a community of unbound love, mercy and tolerance.
Yet, it is apparent from the plight of many parts of the world today, that there is an absence to the adherence of these lofty Prophetic traits. The rise of atheism and violent extremism have both simultaneously damaged the faith of people.
It is during these times we are rife with evil temptations (fitnah), trials and confusion. Such corruption is eating away at the unity of the global Muslim community and falsehood is being sold as the essence of the Islamic faith.
In order for humanity to become the reigning voice of faith, it is incumbent upon us to return to the virtues of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ character and qualities are not only for the Muslims to follow, but the sincere seekers who learn about him, praise his noble character and wish to follow it.
These virtues have served as a model and source of inspiration for all Muslims, such that we should collectively work together to create communities of understanding, God-consciousness and reconciliation.
Join us on this auspicious occasion as we gather scholars, artists, performers and journalists from across the world to celebrate the timeless message of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and discuss how his character is the remedy to healing our hearts in the modern age.
